Everybody has a favorite neighborhood… right? Whether it’s the one you call home or the one where “the grass is greener,” when you picture your county, there’s always that one location that stands out from the rest.
Okay, maybe this is just my personality. I’ve been a realtor in the Oldham County area for many years, so I’m very familiar with our local neighborhoods. My favorites are constantly changing, but, depending on your price range, there are a few that I think everyone should visit.
For a brand-new, still-evolving vibe, you have to check out Brentwood. Houses in this area, whether they have one or two stories, begin at 2,000 square feet, providing plenty of space for growing families. Brentwood is everything good about small-town living (The charm! The quiet! The utter lack of traffic!), combined with modern conveniences such as tennis courts, a pool, award-winning schools, and proximity to shopping centers. It’s also close to I-71 and Crestwood, so if you’re a commuter, it’s a hard location to beat.
Interested in a more established area? I highly recommend checking out Ashbrooke. Because it’s an older neighborhood, the homes are more affordable, making them a great option for newlyweds or anyone searching for a fixer-upper. Located in Pewee Valley (off Ash Avenue), this location offers easy access to I-265.
If you’re in the market for a luxury home, L’Esprit might be the place for you. Located near La Grange, this unique development offers over 4,000 acres of equestrian farms and estate homes. Horse owners and nature enthusiasts alike consider L’Esprit to be a little patch of heaven. Whether you’re interested in riding lessons, hiking, or simply taking in the picturesque scenery, it’s a remarkable corner of Kentucky.
Of course, there are gorgeous neighborhoods all over Oldham County, so these are just a few that I love. When I’m showing homes to potential buyers, it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement of living in such a beautiful area. I think everyone should feel that way about their town—like it’s the only logical, heart-happy place to live.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think we all deserve that kind of everyday magic.
